Common questions

Your questions answered

My baby doesn't sleep well. Where should I start? +
For most babies, not sleeping well is due to one of the 12 common causes of frequent waking, ill-adjusted wake windows, and/or an underlying disturber like reflux, separation anxiety, gas, common illness. Start in our Most popular or the Common sleep disturbers sections on this page.
Does this approach involve cry-it-out or sleep training? +
No. There's no crying involved in my strategies and techniques. I've developed this approach since 2008. By seeing sleep as a learning process, we achieve sustained improved sleep as quickly as is right for your little one, and without fruitless forcing. No CIO in disguise, just real sleep skills, no crying required.
Does your advice cover newborns, babies, and toddlers? +
Yes, and the approach works well to help babies sleep from birth to 3 years old. The articles cover the newborn weeks, 1 to 6 months, 6 to 12 months, and toddlerhood.
